BA International Relations and Development

Duration: 4 Years | Starts September or January

Program Structure

This degree prepares you for a career in international relations – either in government service, or in non-governmental organizations, particularly development-oriented NGOs. The program focuses on the research skills necessary in the study of international relations and development as well as the practical skills needed in these fields.  

Year 1 / Students learn about:
  • The complex relationships that exist among nations, people, and communities
  • A diverse range of cultural, religious, ethnic, national, and other identities
Year 2 / Students are able to:
  • Analyze issues of history, culture, geography, and political economy
  • Explain current approaches toward alleviating poverty and global inequality
  • Evaluate differing political theories
Year 3 / Students gain expertise and skills in:
  • Trade and economic policy
  • How to form and organize an NGO
  • Data analysis and research methods
Year 4 / Students learn how to:
  • Sharpen their leadership and diplomacy skills
  • Complete an independent research project in a chosen area of international relations and development

Take a semester of Intensive English program to improve your academic English language skills and prepare for BA studies at LCC.

Application Process

BA studies start early September, and all online applications should be submitted by May 15 the latest. However, we advise you to consider applying much earlier. The earlier you apply, the more Financial Aid opportunities there are.

  • Early application deadline - February 15
  • Final application deadline for non-EU candidates - April 15. The deadline could vary country to country.
  • Final application deadline for LT and EU candidates, depending on availability - July 15

LCC also offers Spring semester intake. Candidates planning to start their studies in January should submit their application by the following dates:

  • Early application deadline - September 15
  • Final application deadline - October 15

Pay 15-30 EUR application fee. 

Prepare Required Documents

  • Get your high school grades for the last 3 years from your school and an international passport.


  • Scan them in color and submit them to the application.


  •  Submit your final high school diploma upon graduation*.


*Your academic qualification documents will be subject for the Qualification Recognition process if they were obtained outside Lithuania. Country specific requirements may be applicable depending which country you are from.  Please contact us directly for the details at admission@lcc.lt.

Take English Language Exam

Submit an official English proficiency test certificate. It should not be older than 2 years.

You can take the TOEFL ITP exam at LCC or any other approved tests at a certified test center.

Attend an Online Interview

After reviewing your application and the submitted documents, we will schedule an interview. If you live nearby or would like to visit LCC we can schedule a live interview. Otherwise, an online video call will be sufficient.

Get Results Within 10 Working Days

When you complete all the steps and submit the required documents, you will receive the admissions decision within 10 working days*.


*Please keep in mind that there might be some country specific requirements, thus the application process could take longer.

If you do not submit documents according to the guidelines, there may be delays in the process.

The admissions office reserves the right to request additional documents.

Qualification Recognition

If you are an international student or a student who is enrolled in an international school, you will be asked to submit your high school diploma and its supplements for Qualification Recognition process. Recognition of foreign qualifications gives access to higher education in Lithuania.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees are split into two payments and paid each semester.
These are the deadlines for the first semester:

May 1 – non-refundable tuition deposit 300 EUR (for international applicants)

July 15 – non-refundable tuition deposit for 300 EUR (for LT applicants)

August 20 – Full tuition payment for the Fall semester 

Difficult to pay for your semester in full?

You can divide your semester tuition fee into three equal parts. When students are admitted, they receive the Payment Schedule Registration Form which has to be submitted no later than July 31 for Fall semester and no later than November 30 for Spring semester.

We want to make it possible for you to study at our university. Each year we offer financial grants and scholarships to our students that we recommend for you to consider.

Need-Based Aid

Each year we offer financial aid to students with strong academic records and demonstrated financial need.

We take into consideration the following factors:
- Your family's total income and savings
- Your family's total expenses per year
- Your Admissions entry score

Need-Based Aid application must be submitted by May 15 (for prospective students). We recommend to submit the Need-Based Aid Application Form as early as possible.

Basketball Grant

This scholarship is given to the students by the basketball coach’s recommendations who meet team expectations which include behavioral, academic and team commitments. Students receive up to a 90% tuition and a 90% housing fees discount and the scholarship may be available for a maximum of five years.

Caucasus Scholar Award

This grant is given to first year students with the most outstanding academic achievements. Four students from the Caucasus area (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Russia Federation) receive a 100% tuition discount for one year.

International Scholar Award

This grant is given to first year students with the most outstanding academic achievements. Four students from Eastern Europe or Central Asia (except: Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Russia Federation, and Lithuania) receive a 100% tuition discount for one year.

Kenneth and Helen Penner Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to the top incoming freshman student. The award amount is 100% tuition discount for one student for four years. GPA and leadership performance are reviewed annually for the student to maintain the scholarship in the subsequent years. The awarded student will be granted an internship in the President’s Office for 10 hours a week.

LCC Leadership Scholarship

This scholarship is given to first year students who exemplify leadership and service in their schools and communities. Two students receive a 50% tuition discount for one year.

Lithuania Scholar Award

This grant is given to Lithuanian students who receive the Government Study Stipend from the Ministry of Education. The Lithuania Scholar Award will cover the difference between the LCC tuition fee and the Study Stipend amount. The award is applied for four years as long as the study stipend criteria are met.

New Market Scholar Award

This grant is given to first-year students who have excelled academically and demonstrated involvement in various leadership activities. Eight students will receive a 100% tuition discount for one year. Six students from Lithuania and Latvia and two students from China, Nepal, and/or Myanmar are eligible to apply for 2023-2024 academic years.

Sibling Grant

Students that study at LCC together with their brother or sister are eligible for a sibling grant. If siblings enter LCC during different years: For the first year of simultaneous study – the first child will get a 10% tuition discount, the second child – a 40% tuition discount. If siblings enter LCC simultaneously: For the first year of simultaneous study – a 25% tuition discount will be applicable for each sibling.

Ukraine Scholar Award

This grant is given to first year students with the most outstanding academic achievements. Four students from Ukraine receive a 100% tuition discount for one year.

International Relations Scholarship

This scholarship is for International Relations major students entering their third or fourth year of studies. Its purpose is to reward international relations students who have excelled academically and demonstrated hard work and ethical behavior in class. The award amount is a 50% tuition discount for one student.

President’s Leadership Scholarship

The President’s Leadership Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate leadership in all areas of student life: academics and co-curricular activities. The scholarship is given to up to four students. Each student receives a 100% tuition discount at the end of their first year for their three remaining years of study. GPA and leadership performance are reviewed annually for the student to maintain the scholarship in their subsequent years.

Resident Assistantship Grant

This grant is awarded to 17 students selected by LCC’s residence life staff. If a student has a position as a Resident Assistant he/she is granted the benefit of living in the residence for free.

Servant Leadership Grant

This grant is awarded to students who exemplify servant leadership and promote involvement in their local communities or LCC. The grant focuses on students who demonstrate care and focus on the needs of others and do so in a self-aware, fair and selfless manner. Two students receive a 50% of tuition discount during the student’s second year of studies.

Sibling Grant

Students that study at LCC together with their brother or sister are eligible for a sibling grant. If siblings enter LCC during different years: - For the first year of simultaneous study – the first child will get a 10% tuition discount, the second child – a 40% tuition discount. - For the future years of simultaneous study – both siblings will get a 10% tuition discount.

Social Impact and Peace Grant

The Social Impact and Peace Grant is intended for second- or third-year students who are standing up for a positive social change. The award amount is a 50% tuition discount for one year for two students. The grant will provide support to students, who have a demonstrated interest in social justice and advocacy, as well as a demonstrated commitment of care and compassion toward others.

Other funding options

State-supported bank loans

EU citizens can apply for state-supported bank loans to cover their tuition fees.

If you have received partial financial aid from LCC you can still apply for a loan to cover the rest of your cost.
Loan amount is flexible and you can apply for different amounts each year.

You will start repaying the loan a year after your graduation and will have to repay it in full within 15 years.

State stipend

EU-candidates are eligible to receive funding for their first BA Program from the Lithuanian Government. 

To receive state funding you must submit an application through the LAMA BPO platform. State stipends don't match our tuition fees, but LCC will cover the difference between state stipend and tuition fees.
