Michelle Howell graduated from Dordt University (formerly, Dordt College) in 2013 with a B.A. in Biology. She graduated from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2017 with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, with an emphasis on protein chemistry and cancer biology. Her post-doctoral research centered around discipline-based curriculum development, creating learning modules with 3D-printed molecules for science education. In 2019, Michelle joined the faculty of LCC, where she teaches the intro-level and intermediate-level science classes, and is working to develop an Environmental Literacy Certificate Program at LCC with international collaborations, including some in the United Nations. When not teaching or working in the lab, Michelle enjoys biking, hiking, and instilling in her 3 children a love for the world and individuals around them.
