Bio

Dr. Van Zanen earned a Bachelor's degree in sociology at Calvin College (now University). He went on to a Master of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Master of Theology in historical theology from Calvin Theological Seminary.  He completed a Doctor of Ministry degree at Trinity International University in missiology.  He did additional study at the University of California, Berkeley, at New College, Edinburgh University and at Kossuth Lajos University in Debrecen, Hungary. His research interests include Scottish and American church history and the engagement of North American churches with the rest of the world. His work has been published in the Evangelical Missions Quarterly and the Calvin Theological Journal.

Van Zanen loves historical drama in print or visual format, international travel and engaging the remarkable cultural diversity of LCC. He and his wife, Chris, have three married children, one granddaughter and two grand-dogs.
