Bio

Dr. Almonte served as a full, tenured professor and Chairperson of the English Department at Saint Peter’s University from 2007 to 2019.  Later, Dr. Almonte served as the Dean in the College of Arts & Sciences and the Acting Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs at the American University of Iraq Baghdad. Currently, Dr. Almonte is a full professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, Saudi Arabia, a private American-style university offering a wide array of degree programs in high-demand fields in the MENA region.

Throughout his career, Dr. Almonte has been connected to LCC International University. Dr. Almonte was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to teach at LCC in 2013. His advanced literature courses attracted students who were eager to learn and to grow intellectually through the study of literary criticism. In addition to a full-time teaching load, Dr. Almonte also served as a thesis advisor for senior English majors as they completed their final, university research projects; he also served on thesis panels, offering both educational suggestions and valid evaluations of thesis. Additionally, Dr. Almonte advised the student video magazine, a student news publication. In 2016, LCC ventured to create a learning center for Syrian refugees who were, at that time, fleeing from war. Dr.  Almonte volunteered to help launch this new project by teaching English to Syrian and Iraqi refugees in Tbilisi, Georgia. Later, Dr. Almonte returned to teach courses at LCC International University in spring 2021. Dr. Almonte holds a Ph.D. in English and American Literature from New York University.
