Naomi holds a BS in Biblical Studies from Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon, an MA in Theology with a concentration in Old Testament from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and a PhD in Theological Studies with a concentration in New Testament from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois (2021). She has also earned an M.Ed. in elementary education. Naomi’s research focuses on the Synoptic Gospels and on New Testament writers’ interpretations of their scriptures (the Old Testament); her dissertation centered on the puzzling “Son of David Question” in Mark 12:35-37. She is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature. Before entering academia, Naomi served primarily in K-12 education and Christian ministry. In diverse educational contexts in the US and Guatemala, she has taught children, adolescents, and adults and served as administrator in a small educational services company. In various ministry contexts, she has provided chaplain care to grieving people, facilitated Christian worship music, held the attention of busy children for stories about Jesus, served immigrants and the elderly, and participated in interfaith dialogue. Naomi loves students, dogs, nature, stories, humor, shared meaning, and new perspectives.
