Bio

Giedre Norman is an assistant professor of Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding. She holds an MA degree in Conflict Mediation (Fresno Pacific University) and has practiced mediation/ mediative communication in various cultural settings. She has over 20 years of experience in peace education and community development in US, Egypt and Northern Europe. An alumna of LCC herself, Norman has been working in her alma mater for over 20 years, where she pioneered conflict transformation studies. She has developed courses Conflict Analysis, Lithuanian Nonviolent Dissent, Conflict Transformation and Civic Engagement, Nonviolent Social Movements, Negotiation and Mediation, Theatre for Social Action and Peacebuilding, and others. She is interested in interdisciplinary and embodied learning and currently is enrolled in MA studies in Applied Theatre.
Norman’s research areas include natural disasters as catalysts of civic agency, collective memory in post-violence societies, critical peacebuilding theory, civil society crowdfunding for military support of Ukraine, translocal peacebuilding, and the nexus of peacebuilding and applied theatre/ arts.
