FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT
The “good busyness” of LCC life
As we anticipate our Fall Break week at LCC, we recognize the incredible opportunities that are part of our campus community . . . opportunities that stretch our thinking, that build relationships, that strengthen our faith, that make us laugh, that engage us in physical activity . . . opportunities that create “good busyness.”
The impossible busyness
It would be impossible to participate in all of the campus activities, but many of us like to try:
On Friday night: our season opening basketball game (Go Moose!)
Almost every Tuesday at noon: open lectures by researchers among us
Wednesdays at 12:15: chapel (this week led by a worship team representing 6 countries)
Sprinkled throughout the week: more than 15 Bible Studies
Last Saturday: a TED-talk style student forum, with 9 outstanding speakers (from 7 countries)
Last Monday night: our student ecology club “film night”
Last Thursday: a visit with the Ambassador from Canada, and the Ambassador from Armenia
For seven weeks: the faculty/staff wellness challenge (true story – millions of steps taken)
This week: mid-term exams being written, taken, and graded (exhaustion for all!)
Whenever we can sneak it in: a walk along the shore of the Baltic Sea
In the midst of the busyness
In the midst of all this busyness, our students occasionally take time to pause . . . and sometimes write handwritten notes of appreciation. These messages are proof that LCC nurtures not only the minds of our students, but their hearts as well. What a privilege to be part of this place of transformation. The busyness is valuable. But it is the pauses that confirm it.
Your involvement from afar
We are grateful that you have joined us in our mission “to provide Christian liberal arts education in a diverse learning community that transforms people for servant leadership.”
We thank you for your prayer support, your financial support, your visits, your personal notes. Our students are blessed by your involvement from afar. The “good busyness” of our campus community is made possible because of your generosity.
