“warm and hard-working international community”

“I devoted most of my life to studies, by enrolling in different programs and taking part in seminars and pieces of training. In the LC MA TESOL program, I enjoyed every minute of my studies. The content was engaging, the personalities that I met were appealing, the syllabus was rational, and its delivery was excellently organized. I experienced what was to be a part of a cohesive, warm and hard-working international community. Thus, this experience upgraded my theoretical knowledge about teaching English, brought a global dimension into my personal and professional life, and broadened my worldview significantly.”

“A world-class faculty”

"The M.A. TESOL program at LCC has wonderful combination of different elements: a university with a wonderful international feel; online program that allows students to study remotely, yet, with brief residential requirements that help students get to know their professors; a world-class faculty with many years of international teaching experience; and a degree at a reasonable price. I love being a part of this program, and I am very proud of what our graduates are accomplishing around the world."

UNIQUE PROGRAM COMPONENTS

INTEGRATED SKILLS PRACTICUM

The Practicum course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application in classrooms. Each student selects a school or language program that is convenient for them. Each student observes lessons of a qualified teacher and then teaches lessons, making lesson plans and observing students’ progress.

LCC hosts a Summer Language Institute (SLI) in July and MA TESOL students are welcome to complete their Practicum course here. The SLI program is a 3-week, high energy program for over 200 high school students from Eastern Europe. Come and join our staff of 35 experienced English teachers for a month and complete your Practicum in Lithuania.

SUMMER RESIDENCY SESSIONS

At the beginning of August each summer, all MA TESOL students and faculty meet together for 2 weeks on the campus of LCC in Klaipeda, Lithuania. In these residency sessions, students attend dynamic, student centered class sessions. You will interact with a community of TESOL students from around the world while learning to know each other personally with opportunity to enjoy Klaipeda’s beaches and historic old town. Students live in the LCC dormitory, with comfortable rooms and kitchens. The Summer Residency Sessions culminate in a graduation ceremony.

THESIS I AND II

In the final year, students become researchers as they enroll in the thesis courses. The Research Methods class prepares students to launch their thesis project. During Thesis I and II, students are guided individually by an advisor to write a literature review, select methods, collect data, and report findings on a topic of their choice. Completed theses may become published articles.

According to Lithuanian law, amounts paid for studies (when higher education and/or qualification is obtained upon graduation, as well as doctoral studies and art post-graduate studies) by residents of Lithuania can be deducted from the taxable income and thus decrease the income tax for residents. If a person whose studies are being paid for is under 26 years of age and tuition cannot be deducted from his/her taxable income, the tuition can be deducted from the taxable income of one of his/her parents/foster parents. If a loan is taken to pay for studies, the amounts that can be deducted are the amounts repaid. The tuition is to be deducted in the annual income declaration.

The highest net benefit of this deduction is income tax savings amounting to 15% of tuition. For more information on Income tax benefit visit www.vmi.lt.
