This week, June 11-12, LCC professors Dr. J.D. Mininger and Dr. Ignas Kalpokas were representing LCC at the International conference “Humanities Education in the Age of Technology,” organized in collaboration with the New Bulgarian University and the European Humanities University. Both LCC professors contributed talks about the modern conditions to which liberal arts education provides crucial response and support. Frequent points of conversation between all speakers included discussions of changing definitions of what constitutes a human under conditions of technological change, and what the role of humanities education can and should be with respect to these changing definitions. Notable speakers at the conference included Dr. Gregory Prince, President Emeritus of Hampshire College (USA); Anatoli Mikhailov, founder and Rector Emeritus at European Humanities University; and Sergei Ignatov, Rector of European Humanities University.
