Received her undergraduate degree from Baylor University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in English from The University of Mississippi. A native of Texas, she was Professor of English at Dallas Baptist University beginning in 1991; she also served as Chair of the English Department there. She received the Outstanding University Professor award from DBU and the annual Hernandez Teacher-Scholar Award from a statewide organization of English professors. A Fulbright grant brought her first to LCC in 2010-11.
